S. Shamsunder

India
BiographyLittle is known about S. Shamsunder other than he has exhibited twice with the Graphics All India Exhibition of Prints in 1982 and 1984. His residential address was listed as Kala Bhavan at Viswabharati University in Santiniketan, suggesting an association with the school while Somnath Hore (1921-2006) and Sanat Kar (b. 1935) were actively practicing in the region. Stroh notes that Shamsunder’s prints borrow from Indian miniature painting and folk theater traditions and use theatrical staging to explore a narrative suggested in the artworks’ titles. This exhibited work shows the marginalization of human by humans.
