K. S. Viswambhara

Artist Info
K. S. ViswambharaIndia, born ca. 1940

A student of the famed printmaker Somnath Hore (1921-2006) at Kala Bhavan in Santiniketan, K.S. Viswambhara held a position as the director of graphics at the Goa College of Art. In 2014, he led a printing workshop at the Kalashetra Foundation in Chennai. Viswambhara primarily works with intaglio printmaking by which he explores interhuman relationships as expressed through familial ties and sexual intimacy. Stroh has observed that the linear style and overall composition of Viswambhara’s work, as presented in this exhibited print, suggests the figures are figments of a dream or a memory.
