BiographyMariko Jesse is an illustrator and printmaker born in Japan, raised in Hong Kong, and educated in London at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She created artwork to fill an entire subway station in Hong Kong and has designed several collections of ceramics. Her clients include Tiffany & Co., VOGUE, TIME, and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Jesse splits her time between the United States, Asia, and the United Kingdom. She learned Japanese woodblock printing (mokuhanga) in Japan with Yoonmi Nam and Katie Baldwin in 2004. In 2020, she co-founded the international print collective Mokuhanga Sisters with Baldwin.
