Biography• Roy Langford taught psychology at K-State for over forty years. He offered a popular course on art and psychology that included field trips to artist studios and an opportunity to buy a work of art as a class.

• As an artist, Langford is known for his landscape depictions of Colorado, the Southwest, the Pacific Coast and his “beloved Kansas.”

• The artist’s landscape painting was influenced by his specialization in the psychology of perception. Sketchbooks document changes the psychologist-artist made as he transformed freely painted, open-air sketches into highly intentional, formal compositions that often relied on grid lines.

• Langford was a charter member and early president of the Kansas State University Friends of Art, the group that helped form the art collection now housed in this museum.
