BiographyMassachusetts artist Staake is best known as a children’s book and magazine cover illustrator. His work was featured in the Beach Museum of Art 2002 exhibition, Beyond Oz: Children’s Book Illustration from the Region. This self-portrait was part of an exhibition of graphic work from the museum’s 2008 exhibition Blab!: A Retrospective. Staake’s November 17, 2008 The New Yorker cover, Reflection, commemorates Barack Obama’s election as the nation’s first African American president.
