Description

Prakriti is a word used in Hindu philosophy to refer to the material world or all aspects of nature.

Dipak Banerjee studied at the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata, like his peer Amitabha Banerjee, also represented in this exhibition. A prestigious scholarship from the French government allowed the artist to study in Paris at the printmaking studio Atelier 17 withits founder Stanley William Hayter and his co-director Krishna Reddy. (See their works nearby.) Upon his return, Banerjee taught printmaking at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi and exhibited regularly in galleries in Delhi.
