Description
• This woodblock print is an example of the kind of work by Saitō that was preferred by Western art collectors. It renders archetypical Japanese subjects, such as Buddhist temples and kimono-clad figures in a style influenced by Western abstraction.

• Saito also practiced Western printmaking techniques such as collagraphy, aquatint, and engraving. An example of this kind of work is displayed next to this print.
