On View
On view• Storm over Kaw Valley is believed to depict the Flint Hills along the Kansas River outside of Manhattan, Kansas, where the artist owned a small ranch.
• Langford wrote: “I get a lot of ideas for my paintings from the landscape around Manhattan. Each day as I take care of our livestock, I have the privilege of seeing the Kaw River as it flows about a quarter of a mile from the barn where I work.”
• Langford fashioned the frames for many of his paintings, including this one. He considered carefully how the frame’s weight, decoration, and color might enhance viewing.
