Douglas Abdell
• Abdell currently lives in Malaga, Spain. He shows his sculptures across Europe.
• In 1970, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Syracuse University in New York. Following his graduation, he began to exhibit his sculptures in New York City galleries.
• Predominately a sculptor, Abdell worked with cast and welded bronze and steel and carved stone. During his career, he also worked with oil, acrylic, and mixed media collage.
• In the 1980s, the Price R. & Flora A. Reid Foundation in Wichita, Kansas took an interest in Abdell’s work and facilitated an acquisition of his sculptures by the Wichita Art Museum, Wichita State University, Spencer Museum of Art, and the Kansas State University Art Collection.
