Jayant Parikh

Artist Info
Jayant ParikhIndia, born 1940

Jayant Parikh, first a student and then a temporary instructor of painting at MSU in Baroda, drew on his training as a dancer to develop a flowing and expressive process both in designing the print image and producing his cardboard collage plates for small press runs. The art critic Keshav Malik described Parikh’s work in 1985 as an "up to date" schema with the main subject at the immediate center of the print but which nonetheless accurately recreates the distinctive qualities of older India through his stylized depictions of household interiors.
