Kambli initially practiced drawing but trained in painting at the Goa College of Art and in graphic arts at Kala-Bhavana Institute of Fine Arts and Crafts, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. Under the mentorship of printmakers Somnath Hore and Sanat Kar (also represented in this exhibition), he developed narratives incorporating concepts from Indian religion, mythology, and daily life.
