Description

People have viewed the heavens not only as a source of luck and inspiration, but also as a harbinger of doom. Scientists think it is likely that the extinction of the dinosaurs was caused by a giant comet or asteroid crashing to earth about 66 million years ago on the Yucatan Peninsula.  Meteorites, small bits of meteors, hit the earth on a regular basis. The Chelyabinsk meteor — an asteroid the size of a six-story building that entered Earth's atmosphere over Russia on February 2013 — broke apart 15 miles (24 km) above the ground and generated a shock wave equivalent to a 500-kiloton explosion. It injured 1,600 people.

Scuilla’s print refers to the Doomsday Preppers, who spend a great deal of time preparing for a future manmade or natural disaster.  Recently in Kansas, Preppers have been purchasing old World War II missile silos and converting them into shelters.
