Alston received her master’s degree in architecture from Kansas State University in 1980, focusing on music and color perception in design. She taught in the College of Architecture atK-State from 1980 to 1983. Alston lives in New York City where she runs an integrated studio. Like many artists, her interests have changed; her current work emphasizes environmental and social issues.
