On view• To create this work, the artist first wrapped canvas around aluminum tubing, fastened the segments with nuts and bolts, and then painted the surfaces.
• This sculpture is made of two icosahedra that spin in two different directions. An icosahedron is a type of polyhedron, a three-dimensional version of a polygon (a shape with straight sides). Shields created an icosahedron with twenty triangular faces. Each face and edge is the same size and all vertices/points are equidistant.
