On View
Not on viewThe artist’s studio often extends to the great outdoors. Curry painted many Kansas landscapes, even after attending art school in Chicago and later moving to the East Coast. His painting Sunrise (Over Kansas) is featured in the museum’s Prairie Views exhibition. Curry was the first artist-in-residence in the United States, working at the School of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin from 1936 to 1946. Pictured here in his signature overalls, Curry appears to be coaching a young artist on her landscape technique.
